introduction to shotgun shooting clinic

Your initial introduction to shotgunning is an important step, and when done well will help establish a foundation that will last a life time!

This course is geared for those starting out with a shotgun. You’ll learn key fundamentals including how to stand, grip the gun, balance your weight, and position the stock in relation to your cheek and eyes. We’ll check your eye dominance, and provide initial and temporary stock adjustments to help with fit as you develop your gun mount.

If you have a background with rifles then you’ll find that wingshooting benefits from adaptations to stance, posture, grip and vision to enhance our connection with the bird.

You’ll learn about lead and how to apply it on clays, with presentations inline with your ability to achieve a positive experience. You’ll come away with a good understanding of how to hold and move the gun and, hit targets! Gun safety is a fundamental part of the day.

These half day clinics begin in the lodge and progress to the clay ground. The course is perfect for those new to shooting, and for those that have experience with a rifle but now wish to transition over to shotgunning. Emphasis is on skill-based learning throughout.

You can expect to shoot 70-100 rounds. Gun rentals and ammo available on site. Dress for the weather and bring both ear and eye protection, as well as a range bag or backpack to carry your ammo. You can attend this event without holding a firearms license.

Registration fee - $150 per person, plus ammo and target fees.
